Iceland 🇮🇸 2023 Golden Circle Spotlight: Golden Circle Diversions

In our final blog post about our wonderful time in Iceland's Golden Circle, we must highlight some diversions between the big, poplar sites. We spent about 14 hours exploring the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon. While time in our private vans was full of constantly changing views of jaw-dropping landscapes and stories from our guides from Nice Travel, (www.nicetravel.is) we found these stops to be highlights themselves rather than just a chance to stretch our legs.

Kids of all ages in our group enjoyed delicious farm fresh ice cream at the Efstidaluri II Ice Cream Barn. We ate the frozen treats and viewed the very cows that provided the milk. There is an adjacent playground with an Icelandic trampoline. If you're ever lucky enough to spend more than a day on the Golden Circle, Efstidalur has a farm hotel as well. (https://efstidalur.is)

In addition to stopping for snacks for ourselves, we also made a stop to feed horse candy to majestic Icelandic Horses in Bláskógabyggð. They were beautiful, gentle and friendly.

If you're able to snag reservations, don't miss a tomato based lunch, drinks and dessert inside a greenhouse at Friðheimar. (www.fridheimar.is/en)

Our next Iceland posts will feature the wonders in and around Akureyri, Iceland including the Forrest Lagoon!
